ASSC Modular Open Systems Symposium
Thursday 17th April 2008 - MoD Abbey Wood

Modular and 'Open' approaches to system engineering have the potential to bring significant benefits to new and existing UK defence programmes. The application of related standards, processes and techniques can alleviate the issues associated with obsolescence. They can also reduce development times, support technology/capability insertion and drive down total through life costs.

Event Objectives

  1. Broaden the wider defence community's (MoD & Industry) knowledge of the drivers, initiatives and technologies associated with Modular/Open Systems.
  2. Develop a better understanding of some of the key challenges facing developers and users of military systems, and how Modular Open Technologies can be used to overcome them.
  3. Explore the potential parallels between separate programmes and promote the cross fertilisation of ideas.
